Fabric Guide
Every TudungPeople scarf is tagged with its fabric, so you can shop by the material you love. This guide explains each fabric we use, which of our lines are made from it, and how to care for it. You can also filter any scarf collection by Material.
Satin
Satin has a smooth face and a soft sheen that dresses up any outfit. Our satins range from glossy satin silk to matte and textured finishes that show fewer creases.
- Raisa: satin silk
- Wayfarer Basic: matte satin silk
- Ilya: velvet satin silk
- Niya Satin 2.0: velvet satin silk with a viscose cotton lycra and net inner
- Leia and Inaya: silk blend
- Sofya: textured satin
- Premium Prints and Limited Edition squares: satin silk
Chiffon
Chiffon is light and airy, with a soft, flowing drape. Textured and crepe chiffons have a subtle grain that hides small creases.
- Nisa 2.0: soft lightweight chiffon
- Muna: soft textured chiffon
- Niya Chiffon 2.0: light crepe chiffon
- Hayaa Khimar: crepe chiffon polyester with a viscose cotton lycra inner
- Daily Prints squares: light crepe chiffon
Crepe
Crepe has a fine, grainy surface that gives the fabric body, so it holds a neat shape.
- Nluxe: crepe chiffon, in medium and large
Jersey
Jersey is a knit with natural stretch, so it moves with you and needs little or no ironing.
- Safaa Bamboo: bamboo jersey (95% bamboo, 5% spandex)
- Najwa Sport Basic, Hijab, Khimar, Lite, Luna, Nour, Pro and Shawl: quick-dry jersey made for sport
Lycra
Lycra is soft and stretchy, which makes it easy to slip on for instant styles.
- Hudaa Basic, Hudaa Lite and Hudaa Kids: lycra instants
- Safaa Basic: bamboo instant
Modal
Modal is a soft rayon fabric with a smooth, fluid drape.

Voile and Cotton
Voile is a light, fine weave that feels breezy on warm days.
Polyester
Our polyester khimars use georgette, a light fabric with a gentle texture.
- Mina Khimar and Rawda Khimar: georgette polyester with a viscose cotton lycra inner
Polyspan
Polyspan is a stretchy polyester and spandex blend that keeps semi-instant styles in place.
Nylon
Spandex matt nylon is smooth and stretchy, made for time in and out of the water.

How to Care for Your Scarves
All of our scarves share the same care instructions:
- Hand wash recommended
- Do not soak or bleach
- Do not use fabric softener
- Do not tumble dry, dry flat
- Iron on low heat
Note: Fabric is only part of the story. How see-through a scarf is also depends on its weave and colour, so check the Opacity Scale on each product page.
